Baccarat, the game played by tuxedoed secret agents in glamorous surrounds. There is still discussion over from where exactly the game of Baccarat originated, in Italy or in France. In both those countries languages the word means the same however ‘zero’. At first glance, baccarat may look complex however the objective really is very simple. You are trying to predict wheither the player’s hand will be closest to a value of 9 or if the banker’s hand will get closest to a value of 9, or if the two will tie.
You are not actually dealt a hand, you are wagering on others that are. The player and banker are dealt 2 and sometimes 3 cards. All tens and all picture cards have a value of zero and aces are 1. If the hand totals 10 or more, subtract 10 for the value of the hand. As an example, a 6 and a 7 = 13, in Baccarat it is 3. If either the player and /or the Banker have a total of 8 or 9, they both stand.
