Blackjack Rules
The game is over 3 centuries old and evolved from the French game ‘vingt-et-un’ (21). We use 6 decks of cards, shuffled after every game. Wheither you play alone or in the multi-player room you are only competing against the dealer. Your objective is to draw cards until your hand adds up to 21 or beats the dealer’s hand. If you go over 21 you bust and lose, regardless of the dealer’s total. If you and the dealer both have cards totaling 21, the result is a ‘push’ and your bet is returned.
‘Blackjack’ is an ace and a ten-value card (ten-value cards are the Jack, Queen and King) and beats all other hands. Blackjack pays 3 to 2.
Blackjack is one of the most popular games here at the BetRoyal casino and there is no doubt that our most successful Blackjack players have developed particular strategies. In fact, blackjack has enjoyed more attention to playing method than probably most other casino games. In 1956, Roger Baldwin published a paper in the Journal of the American Statistical Association entitled “The Optimum Strategy in Blackjackâ€. This signified the start of a scientific approach to beating the dealer in blackjack. If just starting out, try to remember these simple guidelines:
The dealer will continue to take cards until they reach at least 16 and will stand once 17 is reached. Winning hands pay “even moneyâ€, Blackjack pays 3 to 2.
Aces are worth either 1 or 11. All picture cards are worth 10. If the dealer’s first card is an ace, you may place an Insurance bet as he may draw Blackjack. Insurance pays 2 to 1 if the dealer does get Blackjack. If the dealer does not get Blackjack you will lose your Insurance.
Different Black Jack Tables
Blackjack Surrender
You can surrender on the first two cards, after the dealer checks for Blackjack. If you surrender, you lose half your bet and the game round is over.
Pontoon
The differences between Pontoon and Blackjack are:
-
There are two hands that beat a regular 21: Pontoon (an ace and a ten
or picture card) and Five Card Trick (when the player holds five cards
without busting, no matter what the total value of
the hand is). Both hands pay 2 to 1.
- Both the dealer’s cards are face down until the player stands or busts.
- There is no insurance option.
- In case of a tie, the dealer wins.
- At
the beginning of a hand, the dealer will check his cards. If the dealer
has a Pontoon, the dealer’s cards will be turned over right away and
the player will lose his bet.
- The player cannot stand until they have a hand of at least 15.
- The player can draw as many cards as they like after they double.
- The
player can only split cards with equal rank. For example you can split
two eights or a queen and a king, both of which rank ten points.
- If you get an ace and a ten or a picture card in your split hand, it counts as Pontoon
Blackjack Progressive
Progressive Jackpot Side Bet:
If you get a winning card combination as described in the Progressive paytable, you get an additional payout. The highest progressive payout is the progressive jackpot and is won upon receiving four consecutive Aces of the same suit and starting from the first card in the hand. Note that all progressive wins require that the card combinations (one to four Aces) are consecutive and starting from the first card in the hand. These wins are awarded at the end of the game round, and if you’ve split your hand, they are calculated separately for each of the new hands.
